ATM's in India Remain Closed Due to Wannacry Ransomware Malware Attack?

Ransomware Attack का ख़तरा भारत के लिए अभी टला नहीं है | IT Experts का कहना है कि आने वाले दिनों में भारत में इसका प्रभाव बढ़ सकता है | इस अटैक के बाद ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि भारत में 2-3 दिनों के लिए एटीएम बंद रहेंगे | ऐसे मैसेज Whatsapp पर शेयर किए जा रहे हैं और सोशल मीडिया पर भी ऐसी ख़बरे हैं, हालांकि इस Ransomware Attack से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित Windows XP है इसलिए ऐसा कहा जा सकता है कि Windows XP पर चलने वाले एटीएम को Upgrade किया जाएगा जिस वजह से शायद एटीएम बंद रहें | लेकिन यहाँ पर दोस्तों RBI ने ये भी पूरी तरीके से Clear कर दिया है की ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं होने वाला है | तो दोस्तों यह बस एक अफ़वाह है |

IT Experts का मानना है कि अगला साइबर अटैक बैंकिंग सेक्टर में हो सकता है जिसका बड़ा नुकसान भी देखने को मिल सकता है. उन्होंने कहा है कि हमारे बैंक शायद कुछ घंटों के लिए प्रभावित रहे हों. हमें उम्मीद है और हमने बैंकों को आगाह किया है कि ज्यादातर एटीएम ऐसे OS(Operating System) पर काम कर रहे हैं जो शायद WannaCry Malware से प्रभावित हो |

कम्प्यूटर लॉक कर फिरौती माँगने वाला Ransomware 'Wannacry' दुनिया के 150 से ज्यादा देशों में पहुँच चुका है | इस बीच, भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (आर.बी.आई.) ने सोमवार को बैंकों को एलर्ट जारी कर कहा कि वे एटीएम का साफ्टवेटर अपडेट रखें, क्योंकि Ransomware ने दुनिया भर में Payment System पर हमला किया है |

एक रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक भारत में ज्यादातर एटीएम Microsoft के Windows Operating System के पुराने Version पर चल रहे हैं और ऐसे साइबर हमलों के लिए बेहद असुरक्षित हैं | देश में कुल 2.2 लाख एटीएम हैं और अधिकतर में पुराने Version की Windows XP का इस्तेमाल हो रहा है | 

Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-in) ने इस संबंध में Webcast (इंटरनेट) पर संदेश जारी किया कि फिरौती की माँग के साथ किए जा रहे इस Computer Virus हमले से अपने कंप्यूटर नेटवर्क को कैसे बचाया जा सकता है | इसके साथ ही साथ ही उन्होंने 'क्या करे' और 'क्या ना करें’ की सूची भी जारी की है |

RBI ने सभी बैंकों से Government Organisation CERT-in (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) के Instructions को Follow करने को कहा है | एक Report के मुताबिक भारत में करीब 60 फीसदी एटीएम ऐसे हैं जिनमें Outdated Software का इस्तेमाल हो रहा है, इसलिए इन्हें निशाना बनाना ज्यादा आसान है | Windows XP Ransomware से सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित हैं | इस अटैक के बाद Microsoft ने XP की सुरक्षा के लिए Patch भी जारी किए हैं |

भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक (RBI) ने बैंकों को निर्देश जारी किए हैं कि वो अपने एटीएम को तभी Open करें जब उनकी मशीनों को Windows Update प्राप्त हो जाए ताकि उन्हें दुनियाभर के Malware प्रभावित सिस्टम से बचाया जा सके | RBI की ओर से जारी किया गया यह निर्देश Wannacry Ransomware के कारण है जिसने बीते दिनों में दुनियाभर के कई Computer Systems को ठप कर दिया था और इसके साथ ही साथ इस Virus ने महत्वपूर्ण Data को लॉक कर दिया था और इसे ओपन करने के लिए Bitcoin की माँग की थी | 

WannaCry or Wanna Decryptor is a kind of Ransomware that targets all kinds of files including word documents, PDF files, excel sheets, etc, and encrypts them with the extension .wcry. All the data on the computer system is effectively locked and the user is left with only two files- one with instructions on what to do next and the Wanna Decryptor program itself.

Once the software is opened, the user is told that all their files are encrypted and gives the users a few days to pay the ransom, threatening them against deleting the files. The software demands payments in Bitcoin, relaying instructions on how to buy it and also provides a Bitcoin address to send the money to. WannaCry spread very quickly through LAN and unless companies have installed security software's to bypass it, it can compromise some very important information.

1.) The best way to protect a computer system or all your information against Ransomware attacks is to Backup all the data in a separate system. This means that if your system comes under attack, the attacker won’t be able to hold any information at ransom or lose it to the attack.

2.) Install anti-virus software that scans files before they’re downloaded. There are some security systems that are also able to launch a counter-attack against the malware, once it’s spotted in the system.

How Malware Enters in a Computer

One of the common ways that the malware enters the system is when it’s downloaded by some one who clicks on suspicious links on websites or in emails. Some of these links are sent to the user via emails that are disguised as genuine mails, say from your boss, but are actually phishing mails.

Phishing is the act of sending out mails that appear to be from a well-known source, asking the receiver to click on certain  links. These links take the user to fraudulent websites that either steal their login details or start the download of malware on the system. Therefore, one should be wary of such links and always type out a particular web address, instead of clicking on suspicious-looking links.
